Cabin from coveside

Cabin from cove side

Completed in 2015, the modern 600 sq ft Cabin is privately situated on our 3.6 acre property. Perched some 50 feet above the waters of Unkak Cove, the Cabin offers a stunning panoramic view of the cove, the forest opposite and Grouse Island in Quathiaski Cove. At night, the lights of Campbell River can be seen twinkling in the distance.

The Cabin was mindfully designed as a comfortable get-away for two, with one bedroom, a three piece bath with sensuous rainshower, fully appointed kitchen with dining nook overlooking the cove, and an ample living room boasting a gas fireplace for coziness and ambiance in any season.

The Winter Cabin

Winter is perhaps the most dramatic season to visit Cabin On The Cove. Watch the wind-whipped white caps roll up the cove from your cozy living room perch or steamy hot tub on the deck. The winter cove provides a favourite safe haven for a wide variety of sea birds for hours of your bird-watching entertainment.

Cell reception is good in the Cabin, although we highly recommend you switch your phone “off” as much as possible to fully benefit from “getting away from it all” in this special, quiet spot among the trees and mossy bluffs above the cove.

There is internet access via WiFi plus a smart TV for directly accessing Netflix or other internet sites. There is also an option to use a LAN line (if you prefer a WiFi-free environment) with HDMI connection to the TV for viewing on the larger screen. A DVD player is also provided for watching movies rented from the local video store (yes, we still have one on the island!)

Cabin On The Cove is a no-pet, no-smoking environment (e-cigarettes excepted). Due to rocky bluffs and uneven terrain, the Cabin is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. We will consider “babes in arms”, but do contact us beforehand. Maximum occupancy is two (2) adults, plus one (1) mature child 12 to 18 years of age. On request, we can provide a comfortable air mattress for the child in your party.

Also due to the rocky terrain and the 14 steps down to the Cabin, unfortunately, the Cabin is not wheelchair accessible.

The Cabin — 13 Comments

  1. We are both so thankful to have been able to rent such a beautiful cabin on a wonderful island. It was a fantastic weekend and we hope to be back again in the future.

    • We are so pleased you enjoyed the space and the island. We sincerely enjoyed having you both as our guests and look forward to seeing you again.

  2. Dear Pat and Graham,

So breath taking to see your lovely warm cozy place. In Ontario I am working with friend and have Yoga retreat (www.lotushealthcentre.ca) to treat patients but your place has an awesome scene.

    Warm Regards,

    • Thanks so much, Elvis. Good luck with “Lotus”! The world needs more healing places. Hope to see you next time you’re out this way.
      All the Best…

  3. Hosts Pat and Graham were wonderful to deal with. Emails in advance of the stay were timely and friendly. They were very open to accommodate an early check-in. When we arrived following their detailed directions from ferry, both greeted us warmly and gave us a tour of the well appointed cabin with instructions for the hot tub and gas appliances. Cabin is new, very clean and stocked with the basics plus a complimentary welcome bottle of wine! WiFi was not installed but is coming soon. There was option for plug in internet. Bed is great, shower wonderful, BBQ virtually new, and hot tub relaxing. Basic spices in the kitchen so if you plan to cook a gourmet meal bring the special ingredients. Great comfortable private getaway for two. Not really for kids or people who can’t do stairs. We will go back!

    • Hi Gord,

We are so glad you and your lovely wife enjoyed your stay. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. And thanks for the idea of including some extra spices – it had crossed our minds! It was wonderful to meet you both and we look forward to the next time. Take care!

  4. Cabin on the Cove was a fantastic way for us to bring in the New Year. Our time at Pat and Graham’s was relaxing and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting and watching the snow through the large windows of this beautiful cabin. The pre-trip correspondence with Pat was great, she was extremely helpful with directions and suggestions about Quadra Island. The cabin is gorgeous with a great fireplace to cuddle up by and the hot tub on the deck is a bonus. A perfect romantic getaway! We will definitely return!

    • We’re so very glad you enjoyed your visit! Thank you for your kind words and we look forward to welcoming you back anytime!

  5. We stayed at Cabin on the Cove for a relaxing weekend and were very impressed. The location was perfect and the cabin itself was very cozy. We had everything we needed (hot tub was a huge bonus). Pat and Graham were extremely welcoming and even had some great recommendations for hikes/sightseeing on the island. We will 100% stay here again!

    • Thanks so much, Katelyn! We’re very happy that you enjoyed your weekend and we look forward to you both coming back again soon – perhaps for a bit longer stay next time ;)!

  6. We stayed at Cabin on the Cove for 2 nights in April. BIG MISTAKE … should have booked at least 3 or 4 nights!! This is the most relaxing, private, inviting cabin we’ve stayed in since I can’t remember when. Woooo Hooooo no room for the kids so they have to stay home!!

Pat and Graham were the perfect hosts. When we arrived they gave us a tour of the cabin and suggested several activities and places to go during our stay … did I mention our stay was way too short?

Normally I can’t use a hot tub when on holidays because my skin is so sensitive to chlorine and other hot tub chemicals. They use Spa Marvel, a natural enzyme and almost no chemicals so I had no problem using the hot tub during our stay. The water was so crystal clear. Just wonderful!! Thank you Pat and Graham.

The cabin was spotless when we arrived. There’s a small fridge and a full-size fridge. No microwave which surprised us, but we didn’t want to do a lot of cooking anyway, plus there is a stove.

Nothing better than having your morning coffee in the living room or on the huge deck, looking out over the bay from an elevated level. In the mornings we saw two or three deer walking the slopes below the cabin and we often saw seals and otters playing in the water below.

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that we just didn’t want to leave.

    We’ll be back!!
