We are not overly fond of rules and regulations. However, just as “good fences make good neighbours,” we believe that clearly stated expectations and policies regarding the Cabin use will lead to a more enjoyable experience for all. Payment Policy:

In order to complete your reservation, a deposit of 50% of the total reservation fee is required upon booking your stay. Once your reservation details and requirements have been clarified, you will be sent an email outlining the details along with a link to our PayPal account, which you will use to make your deposit. You may pay your deposit using a credit card or by direct withdrawal from a bank account or from your own PayPal balance. However, you do not need your own PayPal account to complete this process.

Upon notification from PayPal that your deposit has been received and successfully processed, your reservation is confirmed.

The remaining 50% of your reservation fee plus the refundable $250 damage deposit is due 24 hours before check-in. The $250 damage deposit which will be refunded within 7 days after check-out, providing there are no issues. (Please see the separate policy on the Damage Deposit.)

Please note: we do not accept personal cheques unless they are received and cleared at least 48 hours prior to check-in. Please contact us in advance if you wish to use this option.


Refund Policy:

 We recognize that sometimes things come up that necessitate a change in plans. Therefore, we are happy to give you a full refund of your deposit or total fees paid, minus a 15% administration fee, providing you notify us within the following time frames:

  • at least 30 days in advance of a high season reservation

  • at least 2 weeks in advance of low season reservations

In the event of an unforeseeable circumstance that requires you to cancel your reservation later than the above specified time frames, we will refund your payment, minus a 15% administration fee, only if we can fill your timeslot with another reservation. Alternatively, we are happy to apply your received fees to another available slot with a comparable rate, within 12 months of your original reservation. Or you may apply your submitted fees to an available upgraded reservation, if applicable.


Damage Deposit Policy:

We understand and expect that normal wear and tear and even minor accidents resulting in small breakages (eg. a glass or a plate) will occur with normal use of the property. You will not be expected to cover the costs of such small and common occurrences. However, upon check-in a Damage Deposit of $250 is required. This will be applied to repairing or replacing any items that have been damaged or destroyed due to negligence, excessive wear and tear, willful actions or blatant disregard for common sense, safe usage of the property.

Also, in the event that our “No Smoking” or “No Pets” policies (see these separate policies) are violated, the full $250 damage deposit will be retained and used to thoroughly clean the entire premises.

We anticipate happily refunding your entire damage deposit within seven (7) days of your departure, once we have confirmed that you have vacated the Cabin in essentially the same condition in which you found it. And we thank you in advance for taking care of the property as you would your own home.


Check-In and Check-Out Procedures:

To ensure that we have ample time to clean and prepare the Cabin for your maximum enjoyment, the usual check-in time is 4:00 p.m.  Feel free to contact us if you arrive on Quadra Island earlier and, if the Cabin is ready, we will happily give you early access. If it is not quite ready, there are a number of enjoyable places where you can relax while you wait for the 4:00 check-in time. See our “Things To Do” page for examples.

Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Kindly leave the premises tidy, put dishes in the dishwasher, empty the refrigerator(s) and double check that you have all your possessions.  And we’ll hope to welcome you back again soon!!!


No Smoking Policy:

 For the enjoyment of all guests, smoking any substances in the Cabin, or within two meters (6 feet) of entrances or open windows, is strictly prohibited. E-cigarettes or vaporizors are the only exceptions that may be used in the Cabin.

In the event that this policy is violated, your full damage deposit of $250 will be forfeited and used to thoroughly clean smoke residue off walls, furniture and Cabin contents.


No Pets Policy:

We love pets!  Especially dogs! We’ve had our fair share of these beautiful “best friends” ourselves. Consequently, in addition to all the love they provide, we know what’s involved in terms of tracked in dirt, shedding, scratched floors or gnawed furniture, “wet dog odor” and even the occasional dreaded flea infestation that even the cleanest animal can get! In respect and consideration for all guests, some of whom may have allergies to animal hair or dander, we do not allow pets of any kind in the Cabin – not even our own family’s well behaved dogs (sorry Scruffy!)

Similarly to the “No Smoking” policy, if the pet restriction is ignored, your full damage deposit of $250 will be forfeited and used to thoroughly clean the entire premises of pet residue.


Maximum Occupancy & Safe Use of the Property Policy:


Maximum Occupancy:

 The Cabin was mindfully designed and furnished as a relaxing get-away for up to two adults.

The property has uneven terrain and unfenced drop-offs at the cove’s edge. It is therefore not suitable for young children. Also, since the Cabin has not been child-proofed, it is not a safe environment for toddlers. If you have a babe-in-arms, please contact us about suitability. We may consider a mature child between 12 and 18 years of age, but can only provide a temporary cot to be used for sleeping in the sitting area. Please contact us in advance to discuss this option.

Due to the described uneven terrain and the fourteen (14) step staircase leading to the Cabin, the premises are, unfortunately, not wheelchair accessible.


No Camping or Overnight Visitors:

Due to liability and insurance restrictions, camping in tents or trailers is not permitted on the property. Similarly, there is no accommodation for overnight visitors. Only the persons listed in the original reservation are permitted to stay in the Cabin.


Your Own Risk / Respectful Use:

As mentioned elsewhere, the Cabin is situated on 3.6 beautiful acres of rocky, uneven terrain with unfenced drop-offs at the cove’s edge. If you wish to access the cove or walk the common areas of the property, please be aware that, at this time, there are no trails or safety installations. You therefore agree to access the outdoor features of the property at your own risk.

Also, please note that the property includes fragile eco-systems of mossy bluffs, ferns and wildflowers. Please treat these delicate environments respectfully and with minimal disturbance.


No Fires:

At this time, other than the propane BBQ on the deck, we have no facilities for safe fires on the grounds. If we continue to have exceptionally hot, dry summers, even the BBQ may be off limits. Please observe any island-wide fire restrictions issued at the time of your visit and help us protect our precious island habitat from wild fires.


Safe Use of Candles:

Everyone loves the romantic ambiance candles offer and we are happy to provide you with some of that beautiful candlelight. Please, only use candles in the candle holders provided and never, ever leave candles burning unattended. Use care in placing the candles well away from flammable objects, including low overhead spaces. Never place candles where they can be easily knocked off, eg on the deck railing. And in the case of an island-wide fire ban, do not use candles on the deck at all, or anywhere else out of doors.


Safe Use of Hot Tub:

The hot tub is provided for your private, “own risk” enjoyment. The temperature is set and locked at a generally safe 40 degrees Celsius or 104 degrees Fahrenheit – please don’t attempt to adjust the temperature higher. Contact us if you’d prefer a lower water temperature. Please use the hot tub responsibly and read the on-site provided instructions and precautions / risk factors associated with hot tub usage. Never use electrical appliances near the hot tub. Never use glassware in or around the hot tub. Plastic-ware is provided for beverage consumption near the hot tub.


Appliance Guides:

User manuals for all appliances in the Cabin, including the propane fireplace, are located in the “Welcome” binder. For your safe and efficient use of provided amenities, please take a few minutes on your arrival to read through the guides. Also, feel free to ask us if you have any questions about using any of the Cabin appliances.


Noise Levels:

In consideration of our neighbours, please keep noise levels down and observe “quiet time” between 11 p.m. and 9 a.m.


Daily Housekeeping & Maintenance:

The Cabin will be hotel-standard spotless on your arrival. However, housekeeping services are NOT provided during your stay. We don’t expect you to do any major cleaning – you are here for rest and relaxation, after all! However, the following items are provided for your use if needed:

  • broom & dust pan
  • mop 
  • small vacuum
  • recycling bin
  • composting container
  • garbage cans, both inside and outside containers (please keep outdoor lids tightly on to discourage wildlife explorations)


We would appreciate you leaving the premises tidy on your departure, placing dishes in the dishwasher, emptying the refrigerator(s) and taking care to gather up all your belongings. We have tried to anticipate all your needs and provide everything required for a truly special stay.
